Physics Resources

Interesting physics phenomena crop up unexpectedly all the time. The photo shows a TV display acting as a reflection diffraction grating to split the light from an overhead compact fluorescent light into its spectral colours four times in each direction.

I haven't been able to find much information about flat-screen TV displays that lead to this effect.

The two crossed interference patterns suggest the there are two fine grids at an angle to each other.

I would be very interested to see if anyone has further information about this effect.
